Zach Garland-Foster

Zach Garland Foster is a Kansas City jazz, rock and pop saxophonist who has been invited to play at prestigious locations around the Midwest such as the Kauffman Center, multiple venues on Bourbon Street and the Chicago History Museum — all before the age of 20. After being accepted into both Berklee College of Music and the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Conservatory for Jazz Saxophone Performance, he decided to attend to UMKC to study under Bobby Watson and Dan Thomas. From a family of many artists and musicians, from a very early age Foster would tell his parents he wanted to be a “rock star” and play guitar for millions. After being introduced to and falling in love with the music of Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Johnny Hodges and other greats, he devoted his time to getting a head start on playing saxophone at the age of 10. By the time he was a freshman at Liberty High School, Foster was playing lead tenor saxophone in ensembles. Foster was a three-time All District Jazz Band member and two-time All State Jazz member without the aid of a single jazz lesson.
